Devil and her "dreamboat"

Devil is away for a while. She's at my breeders, being bred. Yippee :D . I can hear the sound of little paws pitter-pattering around here soon :D

We had a tie on Monday, she was flagging and ready to breed.... but the progesterone level results came back that she wouldn't be ready for a couple of days.

What do you think? Mother nature or science????

I miss her soooo much!!

Good Luck!
that means we may be having pups around the same time!
we bred penny to pappy and if all went well we are on day 8 from the first A-I
Penny has been acting different, i will be measuring her behind her last rib every week.
she is not quite as active as her normal carzy self, she normally loves to chase the water in the hose, she does that halfheartedly now, she runs only for 2 minutes if that now, when normally she goes goes goes.
she lays around and looks so at "peace"
so hopefully these are all signs!
please keep us posted!
we will have to have puppy contests, guess how many! :D
P.S. we used cytology,Progesterone, and the 2 males i have here to gauge her readiness!

I agree, go mother nature. I don't know about in dogs, but in people, the progesterone tests are not all that. I doubt vet med is that far ahead of human med....maybe I'm wrong.

Keep us updated (plus pictures). I love happy puppy stories, and there's nothing better than pictures of the cute balls of newfie fluff:D

Go with mother nature. When I worked for a newf breeder they were at the National Specialty and one of the bitches was due to welp. I took her to the vet for a test and she said "A week before any puppies arrive". Low and behold in less than 24 hours we had PUPPIES!!! Mother Nature knows......

thanks everyone, I am in total agreement with mother nature knowing more than science.
. Devil, being 5 l/2 has had 3 prior litters.... and never has more than 2 pups. That being the result of science. This time, she flagged my male golden late sunday night, inviting him to mount her (he's neutered, but tried to help her out anyway
). I took her to Nancy Monday morning after stopping at Nancy's breeding vet for bloodwork and a swab. Scoped her and said she's a little wrinkly, the swab said 90%, but the results on the progesterone wouldn't be in till late afternoon. When I arrived at Nancy's, I said, why can't we go with what Devil says? I have a feeling the vet keeps catching her at the end of her cycle, thus the small litters. She's had very good luck with bloodwork on her other girls but I convinced her to see if Devil was accepting a male at her kennel. She did. so, off to the male's kennel and we had the breeding. Let's see what happens.... I do believe Devil knows best :D . If I'm wrong, all I'll get is a "i told you so." ;)

This is going to be so exciting, the three of us having babies all around the same time. We'll keep each other's spirits up after we've spent a couple sleepless nights
. Karen, I don't know about 2 at a time,

I forgot to add.... progesterone results said not to breed till THIS WEEKEND!!! so she's being bred tomorrow again... toooooo crazy.

Well ladies, updates on your girls please!
Penny is on day 12 today, and she has gained one inch behind her last rib.
she may be filling out yet as in maturing, but....
morgan also did this early in both her pregnancies.
i am going to stay postitive, she also is VERY VERY hungry! and plays for short spurts versus going all day.
many changes noted in her, that i hope are telling us she is preggy

:D

Hi Mollysmom,
My Vicki is like your bitch- very small litters. First litter had 2 pups (with c-section to get the 2nd pup out). Second litter was 4 pups (c-section to get 4th puppy out which was stillborn). Vicki's first due date is Monday. Had her x-rayed today. Vet sees one pup- possibly two-and with her track record, probably will need a c-section. She was bred 6 times (AI) over a course of 7 days. Owner of sire wanted to make sure she was covered- boy did she ever!!

Thanks SAR Newf! 2 girls and 1 boy would be great but we'll take whatever she decides to have. As I was paying the bill at the vet's office yesterday, I turned to Vicki and said, "OK Vicki, you've got a week to get 3 more puppies in there." The vet tech looked at me and said "I don't think it works that way." to which I responded, "yes it does. You just gotta think positive."
Vicki, at that point, was too interested in the yellow lab so I don't think she heard me. :(

Hi everyone. I'm a little behind schedule here by the looks of it. We are at the Very beginning here.

Here's my update. Devil was bred yesterday and today (A-I)and goes in for a surgical look at her uterus tomorrow. If her vet thinks her uterus is healthy looking, she will come home pregnant. If she thinks her uterus is tired looking, she will be spayed and I will pick her up from Nancy's vet on Thursday afternoon.

Devil has been showing Nancy she's not happy being away from home. She's on a hunger strike and being very grumpy with all the other newfs. (they are pestering her because she's in season). That's why I'm picking her up right from the vet and making the drive home with her. If she is pregnant, she will need a C-section. She has poor contractions and they had to c-section her for the first litter, and from then on.

I can't wait for her to be home. She's SO missed here by everyone. Well almost everyone, Molly has been in her glory since Devil left. They both want to be my favorite and Molly has had my undivided attention for a week plus. Sometimes I think I see her smiling as she hops and jumps around the yard lately. She's in for a big surprise when when big sister shows up again
.

Oh, almost forgot, this will be Devil's last delivery. She's 5 1/2 and a very young, healthy, active girl, and we want her to stay that way
.
