Daria........Hearts Galore

:heart::heart:
I shared with you all last year that several weeks after Daria passed we washed her blanket that was in the car and after we washed it, out popped a perfect felted heart. We've been seeing hearts every now and then since then. However, lately there has been a big uptick in heart sightings. We saw a frosted heart on the cold sliding glass door, one stuck to the wall, one on a pillow, One on the floor, one on the dog gate (anything small, my daughter has taped to a piece of paper. That paper is getting quite full now...LOL) Last week i was eating M&M's and yup! A blue heart shaped M&M! It's now sitting in a bowl on the microwave as we're not sure what to do with it but I forbid my daughter to eat it...:LMAO:Thankfully she agrees. Couple days ago we were grooming Penelope and she had a few mats on her chest. Britt was in charge of the front half and I was in charge of the rear. Britt called over to me to look at the chest mat and low and behold there was a perfect heart!! I cut it out as carefully as I could and now it's a perfect heart with a tufted "head" on it...LOL.

So.....any idea what all these hearts mean?? Hopefully it's something great. This is a first for us. Hopefully it means Daria is with us and sending us love. I'm not sure. And why the sudden increase? For a couple weeks we had steady sightings. Is this good or bad? What's the hidden meaning if there is one.

We haven't seen anymore since we cut the heart mat out of Penelope. I hope they haven't stopped for good. It's been puzzling and for a while quite comical but I hope they continue even if they aren't as frequent as they once were.

Clearly there is some message behind it. I can't imagine that it's anything but good, but I have no idea what the message is other than to spread the love like she is doing. Perhaps she is leading by example and wants you to leave your own little hearts in unexpected places wherever you go to surprise and delight people, and remind them to be loving.

Or maybe she is simply trying to replace the big hole left in your heart when she passed. There is that old verse that says "It came to me that every time I lose a dog, they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are."
Maybe this is Daria's variation on that theme.

I agree...what a wonderful gift she is giving you...letting you know she isn't gone, you just can't be in the same world right now. You know in your heart that finding all these little hearts everywhere isn't "normal". You also know in your heart they are good and from your baby...enjoy finding them when you do and tell her thank you!!

I think it means she is still with you, and the uptick may indicate that you are healed and she's ready to go on across the bridge and wait for you. At least, that's what I would like to think. Moonlight left me in August and the large hole in the house is still following me around. Daisy has replaced the empty feeling of no dog in the house, but I still miss the giant that was with me (one or another) for over 25 years. My guess is that won't go away, as I think of my first purebred Lab every day, and I got her over 40 years ago. Here, now, though I miss Moonlight. Perhaps Daria is staying to help you get over missing her.

Nina :hug:

Had two more heart sightings today..and I ate one..:nono:Found another heart shaped M&M but this time I gobbled it down instead of saving it. This morning I was putting my makeup on in the bathroom and my daughter hollers out from the living room to check the floor by the toilet. I did and yup, another heart.

I hope this comes out as I intend it. It was devastating losing Daria, of course, but she was so full of life and naughtiness and we are who we are because of her but shortly after she died our sadness turned into...peace.. I guess. This is so different from other dog's we have lost. Then again, Daria was different from any dog we have ever had. We loved all of them dearly but Daria was truly one of a kind. We have such wonderful memories of her and her shenanigans. So, no sadness here. I still marvel at who she was and it's cool if this is indeed her reaching out to us letting us know she's still around.I never knew what to expect of her in life so why should her journey to the hereafter be any different...:angel:

I will always keeps Daria's pic as my avatar. Love that happy sweet face!!

For some reason the reply I posted earlier never "took"....danged computer. I think Daria is still looking over you and that's her way of letting you know she's here. She does have a beautiful face too.

Don't ever remove that avatar. You will note, mine is still Moonlight. If you know Newfs and you look at your avatar, you see a mischievous 8 year old child in there. I hope the hearts continue for a long, long time. We are sometimes sure that Moonlight who was also quite a character and so special, sent Daisy to us. She is like a living heart. She is mischievous, she is so good, you'd think our dogs had trained her i.e. she knew from the start that food in the pantry was to never be touched - what dog would know that?. She lays in a lot of the spots Moonlight used to lay in, even though there have been five dogs sleeping on our carpets in recent years. She loves to lay in a certain spot in the yard. She gives us the same cues for what she wants that Moonlight gave, unlike the other recent dogs. She understands, unlike all the others, that with all his bluster, Daddy is the soft touch in the house and is not really mad. And, there is more. Any way, when I look at your avatar I see a sweet human soul looking back at me. Keep her in your heart forever.

I love your avatar, Nina. Always brings a smile to my face. It sure does sound like Moonlight lead Daisy your way. Sounds like she was fated for you. I would love to see a recent photo of her.

I have never been able to post pictures on this forum. I know it's easier now, but I'm just not "getting" it. Don't know why. Daisy is a Kentucky Porch Dog. Can't begin to describe her, and she looks different after six months of good food and baths. She's 1/4 husky, 1/8 GSD, 1/8 Aussie, 1/8 Schauser, 1/8 Golden and 1/4 Lord knows what, so you see she is a Kentucky Porch Dog. Her DNA test was amazing to see. She's shaded yellow (which is a husky thing), so she looks nothing like a Newf. Probably that's why I miss Moonlight so much. After almost 30 years of Newfs, it seems so strange not to have one here somewhere. And, maybe the hearts are filling in the place for Daria. I'd sure like to think so.
