Curcurmin

Has anyone given curcurmin as a supplement to their pups? I recently started both Zeke & Myra on this and notice a difference with Myra. We've probably been on it for about 30 days and she has gone from standing and eating her food with a completely tuck tail to now a normal tail while eating. I remember asking one time about how some dogs stand while eating cause Zeke's tail always stands straight out and Myra's has always been tucked, just find that to be a good change cause I don't recall her ever eating without a tucked tail, always made me think pain, weather it was stomach or legs/back I don't know but she sure seems more at ease now. We choose a Thorne product for dogs (just as an FYI)

I know a few people who use it for their dogs and themselves.
It can be a bit hit and miss but if it helps go for it.

You can get gold paste capsules from Amazon as well

I've become a believer in turmeric (or curcumin, its most active element) since I tried it on a senior Newf who had started to limp due to arthritis. He was back to normal in only six days. I used a double dose of a high quality turmeric supplement made by New Chapter. Now all my senior Newfs get curcumin in liquid form (in a capsule) along with krill oil.

I use a Canadian product and I'm not sure if you can get it in the US. However I believe there are now similar products available in your country.

The supplement that I use is SISU Full Spectrum Curcumin. Only one capsule per day is needed. With other turmeric/curcumin supplements I usually recommend that you use double the dose recommended on the label as turmeric/curcumin is especially difficult for dogs to absorb. The liquefying of curcumin is a major break through and I take i myself.

Many people hesitate to use SISU as it has the least amount of curcumin per capsule and I was one of those doubters. However knowing that any medicine or supplement in liquid form is far more digestable than in any other form, I gave it a chance.

I also give 2000mg of krill oil or 6000 mg of sockeye oil for my seniors. When this is not enough I then add ester-C in powder form. This latter is used as a last resort because the high dose required tends to give soft stools and even diarrhea. Should anyone need this level of supplementation for arthritis or other joint problems please contact me for the protocol for loading and mainenance doses.

BTW, both curcumin and krill oil have many other heatlh benefits whereas high dose ester-C is just for the joints.
