Crack is...

Delicious! :icon_bb:

Orca's secret santa(s), Dublin and mcme (Mary), hit the ball out of the park when they sent Orca Blue Buffalo Wilderness Trail Treats in the Salmon flavor. Orca LOVED them and unfortunately went through them pretty quickly. I considered buying more, but thought to try making them at home first. I googled it and found a recipe for "Salmon Crack." Orca would not leave me alone while I made them and his drool literally made a puddle on the floor while he had to wait for them to cool. Seriously, guys, I almost slipped and broke my neck. Anyway, this is not originally my recipe, (you can find it yourself by googling "salmon crack") but I made a couple of modifications/learned a few lessons so I'm passing the recipe on in hopes your dogs like them as much as mine did.

The original recipe asks for 2 eggs, a large can of pink salmon, and 2 cups of flour. I added a healthy squirt of salmon oil to the dough.

Preheat Oven to 350F
Dump the can of salmon into the bowl
Crack the two eggs into the same bowl.
Mush them all together until everything is incorporated.
Add 3 or 4 tbs Salmon Oil (makes it extra fragrant, which I find important)
Add flour, in small increments (I used 1/3 of a cup) until you have a wet dough that sticks together in a big gob (if you try and pick up a handful, it doesn't easily separate from the rest). With the addition of the salmon oil, this might take more flour than 2 cups.
Take the whole gob, put it on a greased cookie sheet, pour a little more flour on it so it doesn't stick to your hands, and flatten it out until it's the same thickness across the sheet. The original recipe says 1/4 inch thick, but I like them chewier for training treats so I made mine closer to half an inch.

Pop them in the oven for 25-30 minutes (remember: shorter time and thicker in pan for chewy treats, longer and thinner for crunchier treats).

Take out, cool, and slice into treats.

Hope you all enjoy!

PS: This makes a LOT OF TREATS!

That sounds yummy though l don't think my two would get past the flour stage.l suppose it would be a good one for most fish.
Thanks for the recipe.will have to give it a go.

I'll have to give that a whirl. Bet you could also use oatmeal in place of flour

Oh I like that oatmeal suggestion. We are gluten free so gf oatmeal would work. I don't have ss oil but I do have krill oil. I wonder if that would be good?

Sounds yummy, must get some salmon for the gang. You can usually substitute any kind of flour for wheat flour, oat, rice, coconut, almond (easy to make yourself with a food processor). I can see needing waders in the kitchen with my 3 when making this.
Thanks for sharing!
