Chase update

I have been sadden by all the not so good news on so many senior newfs and that lately so many have crossed the rainbow bridge. I thought I would update a bit on Chase. She will be 12 years and 5 months on July 3. I will say this is good news. (I hope this does not jinx her)

She can get up without any problems. She does not have to walk her front legs forward to stand, she can still push her self up. She can squat to potty without problems. Today while we were mowing the back play yards (5 acres) Chase wondered around for awhile the proceeded to walk to the other yard - to the pond and take a quick swim. When we were going back to the house she RAN down the drive to greet me. Mobility wise she is doing great. Not bad for a newf that has very bad hips. I never told her she her hips were very bad and I never made a exception for her. She can use it or lose it and I chose to help her use it.

About the only thing I've noticed on her aging is her hearing. She just does not hear as well but sometimes I wonder if it isn't selective hearing. When she is asleep at times I have to touch her to get her up but not often. She has yet to miss a meal or treat.

I hope to have many more years with her. Samantha, her aunt, lived to be over 14 years and 2 months. I'm hoping Chase breaks that record. I will admit that every time I read bad news about a senior newf I count my blessings that Chase is doing so well. I love this ornery girl!:kiss:

Edited to add: The only meds she is on is Proin, microlactin, metronidazole and apoquel for her allergies.

That is fantastic news!!! She is such a blessing.

She and my Faith are related and thankfully Faith is still going strong. She'll be 11 next Fri.
