Charlies Hydro

He is doing fantastically although if he was typing this post he’d say he was dying of starvation!!

Since weighing in at 77.8kg (171lbs) back in May he has been placed on a 1% of bodyweight (he’s a raw feeder for those who didn’t know) diet and has hydro therapy twice a week. This has built up the strength in his legs and both helped to burn calories and also enable him to exercise more effectively and he now gets 2 walks a day.

He weighed in on Monday at 68.9kg (151.9 lbs), that’s a whopping 19.5 lbs in 5 months!!!! We are really delighted and are almost there now. I reckon another month or two and he’ll be at his ideal weight and we can increase his food a little again. Besides acting like he would eat anything at all put in front of him and staring at every edible item like it was the rarest commodity in the world he has been going from strength to strength, happier, more energy, more mobility and fitness etc so we are very proud of him!!

I hear you Eddie....Zeke has been the same way! It's amazing the energy and playfulness that comes back to them. I couldn't be happier with both of our success. I'm happy to hear the update! Now go sneak him a slice of liverwurst-:whistling:

hit the magic 68kg mark yesterday on weigh in. it fluctuated between 67.9 and 68.1 so we'll average that out to 68.0!! delighted hes come so far so quickly. so thats 150lbs down 21 from his high. the vet wants us to keep slimming him down as much as we can to help his joints so we'll keep going a little bit but this was our main target and didn't think we'd get there this fast

weighed in at 64.5kg (143 lbs) on monday. we would be normally delighted with this except for the fact that he's dropped a lot very quickly. the vet thinks its due to pining for Molly who passed away at xmas. so having lost 28 lbs since May we now want to try and steady the ship, we're delighted he's no longer overweight but don't want him going the opposite extreme now either.

he is very down at the moment and misses his best friend in the world so much. we've taken him to day care two days a week so the extra activity there and doggy interaction is great for him. so mixed news on the Charlie front, his excess weight is gone but we need the little fella to stay healthy now too and get over the loss of Molly

How's your boy doing today?
He's good today he's at daycare now having a blast! the daucare days seem to be working well and today is one of them so he will have good fun. we will watch his weight very closely and make sure he doesn't loose any more and try and keep him at an optimal weight without too much fluctuation. at home with us he gets down as he misses Molly around the place but tme will heal that i hope and maybe in time we'll get him a new friend we're just not ready right now

Sounds like Daycare is helping to heal some of the hurt he's felt at loosing his buddy, Molly. Big hugs to you two and your fella :)
