That's more than likely a telemarketer. I get those all the time but don't answer them.

+1. Agreed. And I have had something interesting happen recently. Somebody calls my cell and hangs up after 1 ring. I check the number and it is a number I don't know from out of state. Figure its either a telemarketer trying to get me to call back or a telemarketer trying to send me a text message. I have the text message ability on my Cell cut OFF because Verizon charges me to receive them. :(

I get regular calls from New York and Miami... It's either telemarketers or scammers; I don't answer anymore.

I think a lot of these calls are also political. I am getting calls from all over the place, however I am listed as an independent voter. So, I think I get a double whammy with the phone calls.

But I have listed my phones on the "Do Not Call Registry" and I don't think it is working any longer!

Wadn't me, I get calls from everywhere, if it's telemarketer or robo-call you can call the number back and it should give the option to opt out, by pressing 1 or 2. HATE...JUST HATE, all the calls I get at work!

This service works pretty well here. https://www.nomorobo.com/ But you have to have the option to allow your phone to ring as well as forward the call to other phones. Comcast Voice has what they call Advanced Call Forwarding. What happens is if the caller ID shows a known robocall, the number you tell Comcast to also forward the call, recognizes the caller ID, and picks up and hangs up the call in one ring.

We get those calls and if the answering machine tries to pick it up the hang up message starts. If you would like to make a call please hang up and try again...blah blah blah. Every time we get them Lester, our eight year old Landseer starts to howl followed by Annie and Ruby joining in if he howls long enough.

Here they have sadly gotten smart. They spoof the number so the first 3 digits are the same as yours (and same area code) and the last 4 are different.

Though once I got a call from my own number... made me blink a few times. Sadly, we are at the point where if I don't recognize the number... they can leave a voicemail.
