Brother, can you lend me a story?

Well I've finally caved in and started another website. I'll be honest; the previous one I had was pure nonsense. I had this whole internet "Goddess" persona and I even had an online job application if you wanted to be a slave at The Temple (the name of my old website) and...well, I needn't bore you with the details. Let me just say that after 4 years, I realized the futility of it all and took it offline. I actually had quite a fanbase going on but c'est la vie, eh? So anyway...

I'm back online! And this time it's all about that which we love and enjoy; Newfies! Mine, in particular.

So aaaaaaanyway anyway, the reason for this long-winded post is that I'm shamelessly hitting you all up for any stories you'd like to share about your Newfies. I have created a section dedicated to any and all stories regarding our "kids" and whatever you'd like to contribute would be much appreciated and you will receive full credit.

I expect my new site to be online by next week (give or take a day or two) so if you'd like anything to share, please email me at: KanelaGirl@yahoo.com (temporary until the new site's up). There are those that have had problems with the AOL email addy I have in my profile so I figure the Yahoo addy will make it easier for now.

Thank you guys. Looking forward to those great stories!

I think it's a great idea. I have some good stories about Beau...Some I'm sure I shouldn't repeat! I have a web site that I developed as Beau's memorial site. It was my first (and last) attempt at designing a site. It is long and has lots of pictures but he was the light of my life so the site reflects it. If anyone wants to take a look...just let me know.

Good News as well. A rescue group contacted me and there may be a new Newf in the near future. Yeh!!

Congratulations! Rescuing a Newf is on the top of my list of heroic deeds a person can accomplish.

How about a story (beginning to end) telling of your search for a Newf and finally finding one? I welcome amusing, sad, thoughtful and triumphant stories. ALL stories! If it's got a Newf in it, I'll post it up.

Sounds interesting! You should compile a book like 99 Newfies! Will it be a free access site too?

Oh it's just a personal webpage I'm cooking up. I'm not selling anything (books, tupperware, souls...
); it's just a tribute page for my little Nani with picture gallery, etc. that will also include stories contributed by kind folks like yourself. Free to everyone that cares to visit! I'll also include links to Newf-Net (of course) and whoever else owns a Newf site.

P.S.) And you've just tapped into my secret life-long dream of someday writing a book of some kind. About Newfies? Why, I can't think of a better subject! One day...

As an unpublihsed (so far) writer myself, I encourage you to write not someday but today!

Someday may never come. Today is here.

Just a thought.

Stephen King (a beloved favorite author of mine) was once asked by one of his students, "Mr. King, how do you go about writing a book?" He replied, "Sit down and write it. NOW."

Good advice, indeed. I think I will.

True, I've heard from many writers that if you want to be one then the only way to do so is to (surprise) write. It doesn't have to be good, it just has to be done. Good will come with experience.

Thanks to some of the people around here who for some (probably drug induced
) reason seem to think that I'm the second coming of Dave Barry (I like him but I think that I run more towards P.J. O'Rourke
) I've decided to try to crank out some more stuff (not always newf related (although they do provide lots of comic material) but the humor of daily life)). Don't worry, I won't infest this forum with too much of it but I do want to sharpen my skills and the only way to do so is to do so.

So thanks for the complements on various threads. It did swell my head somewhat but luckily I have enough people around me who will look at me funny and ask "WTF were you thinking?" to keep me in line.

BTW Kanela,

Given the amount of people around here who seem ready to sacrifice a mortgage payment to get Gentle Giants, I would say that you have a ready and willing market.
