Broken shoulder

Don't panic, none of my newfs have a broken shoulder...now. But Panda was hit by a car as a puppy and broke her shoulder. Most of the time she is just fine, but with this cold damp weather she is very sore. Limping so much I feel sorry for her. I have her on Glucosamine and Chondroitin to help but does anyone have any advice on how to make her more comfy? I have given her Ascriptin (malox coated asprin) but I have to give her 2 to get any relief. I am afraid of stomach problems. I have used Rimadyl in the past, but again I am afraid of liver problems. Any ideas? I made her a soft bed, but she will not lay on it--she prefers the floor.....

Jeannie, I don't have any advice but I wanted to offer my good thoughts to you and Panda. I hope she feels better! Well actually I may have some advice...do you think a hot water bottle placed on her shoulder may help? For humans it helps with sore muscles, etc., maybe it will help ease Panda's soreness?

Did that. In fact I do it a few times a day. she just lays there like she enjoys it. I also rub it

Yeah! Glad to hear it's working! I could use one myself...

Jeannie, do you have her on Vit E? Her shoulder is probably arthritic, and I've found it REALLY helps. All my Newfs get 400 IU twice a day, but the older, arthritic ones get 400 IU in AM and 1000 IU in PM. It's like chicken soup. Couldn't hurt, might help!

NO I don't, but they will be by the end of the day. I do have them on a multi vitamin though. Will try it
