Breederpuppy issue - please respond

Hello!! I met a breeder through the internet. Her lines are what I have and love. She had a puppy she told me was available, so I sent a deposit. After a few weeks, I sent the full payment and we agreed to ship him. Right around the time to ship him, she changed her mind that she was not going to ship him, and I had to fly to get him NOW (her words). I could not jump on a plane right then, as I had two doctor appointments that I did not want to cancel as I had waited weeks for them. I offered to pay a helper of hers $100 to take him to the airport, pay for it all, no problem. I get an email from her that he is not being shipped and she is putting back as available. I could have flown the coming week or next week. No! He is gone to someone else. Now she is keeping my deposit, because according to her, I changed my mind and that was devastating to her. WT!!!! Am I losing my mind? I wanted this boy and still would take him, but it is my fault and I have to pay. Please give me your opinion. I have never been through this before. TY! I meant the heading to be Breeder/puppy issue. TY!!

I have never had to give a deposit but I have read that the breeder is within their rights to keep it if the person doesnt take the puppy. BUT! It seems that she changed her mind, not you. I think it's a bit "fishy" because breeders fly pups all over the place. I don't know if you would have any recourse contacting the NCA. I know on the NCA website they have Puppy Ambassadors, wonder if they would have any advice?
I'm sorry this has happened to you but maybe it was for the best if she is acting like this.

If your pup is gone, I don't know that you want anything else to do with this breeder other than reporting her to NCA. I would write her a letter, send it registered, and tell her you expect your money returned in five business days, if not you will contact your attorney. JMHO

Have you got a lawyer friend... get them to pen a letter on their letterhead.... I can understand her not wanting to fly a puppy alone, ... That would be me.... But if you would have come at a later date within a certain timelimit, she surely has no right to keep your deposit... Have you got emails, or just phone messages... keep them and just threaten to see if you can get your money back. I have bought quite a few puppies, I have never paid a deposit, but I have had to travel to pick them up. its sad when this happens and really not right. Animals in Australia are under Property law and I think it is the same in the USA, so you may have legal rights.... I would contact the NCA also and let her know that is what you are going to do.... I am so sorry, its like a loss when that happens :(

I agree with Ronnie. Too many red flags. You may have been caught up in fraud or an internet scam. Contact a lawyer.
