Thanks, Bridge! I'll definitely try it and see if Nani likes it (yeah right...a Newf? not liking MEAT??
) Today, just to top off her lunch, I gave her a cup of homemade chicken soup - no salt, of course - and I swear it was gone in one big slurp. LOL I'm always on the lookout for better food for my babies.

I feed Bil Jac Select (dry) I tried mixing in the "fresh" (frozen) Bil Jac meat but my girls didn't like it, so I just add a couple of tablespoons of Pedigree canned and they love it. STRANGE!!

I have never really given dog food much thought until now with my baby newf on the way so forgive me for my ignorance. We do not plan on doing the natural diet what is the difference in Eukanuba, Bil-Jack frozen, and Bil-Jack kibble? Which would be the best all around food, can Bil-Jack frozen be used soley or is it a supplement?? ...so confused!

Here ya go: Bil Jac Website.

The difference is Bil Jac produces fresh, human-grade food (we could eat it) for your pet while Eukanuba (made by Iam's) is strictly for animals. It is still a good food to give (some breeders will swear by it) but nothing beats fresh, after all.

I, myself, feed Nutro Large Breed Puppy (found at Petco, Petsmart, etc.) supplemented with real meats - chicken, turkey, beef organs - veggies, brown rice and some fruits. In small proportions, never overfeed a Newf!

But that's my practice and you should do your homework on what you think would be best for your own baby. Everyone here will give you advice (and it is WONDERFUL advice
) so just read what you can, talk to people and reach your own decisions. Newf Net's here to help!

I like Bill Jac the best. I have tried Nutro, Iams, Eukanuba, Nature's Recipe, and some all natural food I got at a health food store (this food was highly recommended by people on the dog nutrititon list). They don't compare to Bill Jac, my dogs no longer have soft stool, and their coats shine. I have to drive over an hour to get Bill Jac, but to me it is worth it

Thanks for all of your advice and opinions guys!

And 1 more Bil-Jack question (dont mean to dwell), is the dry food human grade?

Well my opinion is, feed what works for you, there are many out there that have dogs with sparkling clear bright eyes, shiny shimmery coats that glisten, health abounding, what works for me, and i have an 8 year old that has many injuries under his belt from search and rescue, who is glowing with health. they are fed wysong the synorgen brand, and the canned meats mixed in, and yes, oh no, i do suppliment,
they get escorbate, they get vit e, they get Jflex and GL they get bee pollen.
they are active more than a lot of newfs out there, constantly on the go.
that is what works for me, and has worked for 6-8 years, i find to many dog food companies are constantly switching their formulas, wysong is tried and true.
morgan who is due to have pups, is on the growth mixed with synorgen and yes she gets raw hamburger.
she and the pups will be fine.

I have heard of Wysong dog foods. I cannot find it anywhere near me. Where do you get it?

One of the reasons i didnt choose wysong is because the protien and fat was too high, and i think it had coprn meal in it , if i remember corectly. but that was the one i would have went with until i ask the protien and fat %

the fat and protein are not as high as most foods out there, and the synorgen is the best formula they have, i dont look at just those but the overall food, and the swelling of the food also, digestability.

Have you given superfive mix by neura a look at? You might like what is int it and the protein and fat are pretty good.
