Here are a couple of photos of Panda--before 5 hours of grooming and after. Beautiful isn't she?

Yes, Jeannie, Panda is beautiful! Do you want to come over and groom Ozzy now?

I visited your website and it looks great. One of these days I am going to be the owner of one of your beautiful carts! They are great!

Thanks for sharing your photos of your new baby!

No problem--be right over
I did have someone from our Newfie Club travel 2 hours so I could groom their Newf. Where do you live??? Some place exotic like Newfoundland or Hawaii? If so my bags are packed. Would that count as a tax deduction since I would be working???

Jeannie,

Yes it would be deductable, sort of. It depends on how long you stayed and what you did that was business related while you were there. Very generally if you flew to Hawaii, spent three days there, groomed the dog on one day, and goofed off on the other two, you could deduct 1/3 of your expenses. Now if you managed to line up a dog for each of the other two days.... You would also want to document how you were looking for new clients, researching the possibility of moving your shop there, the ability to make a living doing that there, etc
. You don't have to make a profit but you do need to show business intent. Also if you did this same trip year after year (in Jan. of course) you might raise a few eyebrows at the IRS (assuming that you ever got audited) as you should have been able to answer most of the above questions on your first trip. Now if you went to Hawaii one year, Florida the next, Bermuda the next, etc. you would be ok as you are still looking for that perfect place for your shop.

Owning a business is great isn't it? There are so many legitimate deductions out there that can be related to your making money. Who said that work has to be work.

Greg,
I didn't expect such a detailed answer
Are you an Accountant or Lawyer or do you work for the IRS????? (for those that don't know, the IRS has an office in Cincinnati) I doubt if I ever do that. Now if I can only think of a way to make my husband's expenses tax deductable and be able to take all three dog--I may condsider the idea.
( cannot leave my babies at home--what kind of vacation would that be worrying about them and missing them the whole time)

A lawyer, A LAWYER??? Go wash your mouth out. Actually I think that The Bard has had the best idea for them in the past few centuries.

Nope, I'm just little old me who tries to avoid that cinder block building over in Covington (the IRS ranks just above lawyers and congressmen in my book but slightly behind used car salesmen and news anchors). Actually I worked for H&R Block a long time ago which gave me the foundation to build off of. Then with 10 or so years of owning/running businesses I've learned a few things along the way.

Gee, Jeannie, I wish I could say that I lived in some exotic place where you would love to come to visit and groom my Ozzy during your stay....BUT, South Central Pennsylvania probably isn't on the top of the "exotic" list, is it?

I battled with trimming his ears tonight. One of these days I will get it so that it doesn't look so "choppy". Oh Well.... practice makes perfect!

If I practice the ear and foot trimming like you, maybe MY husband can learn to build carts like yours, too!

In my dreams.....

We live in Hawaii, on the island of Oahu. After seeing the before and after photos of Panda, I thought how nice it would be to have at least Malia be done by a proffessional groomer...that know's newfies!

HEY now that is a thought. A nice exotic place to visit and a tax deduction.
Let me see....bath dog, lay on beach, dry dog, snorkle, groom dog, go to a luao(sp) ........ I could get use to that
Only problem that I can think of is my three cannot go, so I gues that means I will be staying home.
The thought was nice....
