Hi.. I have a 9 year old newf..he's been sick and had diarrhoea on and off for 2 weeks..starved him for 24 hrs and been feeding him rice or pasta.. Took him to vets last week and he said it's probably acid in his stomach checked him out no temperature gave me some tablets 3 times a day.. He stopped being sick for 2 days but odd bit of diarrhoea all week..then started being sick again about 3 hours after being fed a few days ago..going to take him back to vets tomorrow.. Just hope it's nothing serious..

Crossing my fingers...hopefully he isnt dehydrated...that makes things worse. Did you try pepto bismol for his tummy? That usually helped my dogs with throwing up...also canned pumpkin for diarrhea.

Did you get a complete blood count and urinalysis? I would take a urine sample when you go to the vet.

Maybe a round of flagal also use organic canned pure pumpkin I like to use baby food rice cereal it is predigested so the gut does not have to work hard to digest it. A probiotic o e time a day as well until things start to straighten out then slowly wean him onto his regular food

Maybe see if you can find some slippery elm. It's helped Zeke (who's 9) and gets any upset stomach issues.

We always use Pepcid, not Pepcid AC, for stomach problems and Immodium for the runs. Sounds like he could have a virus of some sort. Hope the vet can figure it out. One of ours used to get something like this in the spring, and we never knew what it was other than something in the yard she was eating.

Try sweet potato which is more common in the UK.it will ease his stomach.slippery elm is available from most chemists in the UK.try boots.

What is he eating? Could the food be bad, or is objectionable to his tummy. I know not all dog food works for all dogs. I feed raw, don't trust manufactured food

Can you feed him rice and boiled chicken for a couple days until his tummy gets back to normal?? Did the Vet check for Salmonella? Sometimes the dog food goes bad if it sits out.

He was on antibiotics for 5 days picked up well..eating good..when antibiotics finished he went downhill again..I took to vets on Friday and he stayed all day..had blood tests and fluids... Blood test didn't really find much...so he's bck on antibiotics and acid tablets...tday he's been good..just hope this time they clear it up...vets still think it's infection
