Beach cleanup

Hi everyone! Just curious. When you go to the beach does your Newfie track in lots of sand from his fur, or do your wash him every time. We live next to the beach and it would be nice to take him down there everyday. How do I keep him clean with such a thick coat? Lily

When I take my crew to the beach, I use my high velocity blow dryer to get the sand off them.

We have about and hour and half drive. Most of the sand shakes off and then a lot is in the van when we get home. We usually wash her down pretty well with water, and a quick shampoo once we are home. She is still in the stage of losing the puppy fuzz and getting her adult coat. She is 7 months old.

We rinse the underbelly, chest and legs which gets a lot of the sand off, and then we blow dry.

As you will discover the more you read here, the vast majority of us cannot live without our high velocity professional grade canine blow dryers. K9III, the Circuiteer, the Metro Air Force Master Blaster...can't imagine life without it. It's a totally indispensable grooming tool, especially if your dog will be swimming frequently. We live 5 minutes from the beach, and we have a pool. If I didn't have the blow dryer, my guys would smell like a mildewed towel in no time, and Nanook would be suffering from staph infections all the time.

thanks! I'll be looking into blowdryers . If it gets too bad I could always use my leafblower on Hagrid and the inside of my house. Ha!

We are on the beach 3 to 4 Xs a week, unless they go in the water, most of the sand is off before they get home, Tiki is the swimmer, I towel him off briskly before loading him into the truck, very little sand. A dryer is my next investment, but the sand is not a big issue, & I have 3 dogs & live a block from the beach.

Mud is more a issue than sand, in my opinion.
Also depends on the consistancy of the sand, in OC, the sand was dirtier than the sand in NJ (between Point Pleasant & Lavallette, our range), some beaches are of a dirtier type sand, some are more hard pack.
