Azaleas

Does anyone know what part of the Azalea is toxic to dogs? I just looked it up and it didn't say if it was the flowers or leaves that can be toxic.
I just went outside to let the dogs in and next to Leroy was 4 branches of my Azalea bush, not 100% sure if he ate some of them or not but I would not put it past him.

I don't really pay attention to that bush because none of the dogs have ever bothered it so I was actually suprised to see that there were leaves on it since it is the middle of winter. UGGGH:ah:!

Ok. After my paniac attack settled down I answered my own question. I read that the leaves and branches are toxic,:cussing2:, but if he did eat some of them I don't think it was enough to harm him. Just to be safe I will take him to the vet. I swear this dog is going to make me insane.

Where did you read that??? Kilrain has been eating our azalea bush for a couple of months. We asked a vet when he barfed up a mound of mulch and they said it was OK other than the possibility of stomach irritation from the bits.

THey are toxic according to the ASPCA poison control book. All parts. Anything in the rhododendron family. Don't know how toxic or how much a Newf would have to eat.

It is the sap....Which is in all part of the plant. Though luckily it is not as sappy as the oleandar (very poisonous due to this), so it takes a lot more to cause the poisoning
