A.o.e.

A couple weeks ago I read an article in the newspaper regarding a woman who was asking how to get the animal smell, including anal sac secretions, out of her car's upholstery. The column writer suggested A.O.E. which stands for animal odor eliminator since many veterinarians use this in their practice. This caught my attention because my dog's anal glands release every now and then and you can definately smell it when I do a poor job of cleaning him up. I bought the bottle spray and the wipes. So far I've only used the wipes, but I'm really surprised and pleased. I've used them on the front of his chest that catches the most drool. This area can get really stinky. It seems to really work and I love the smell. Has anyone else tried this stuff? If so, what is your opinion?

This can be used on the dog (except the eye area). It says it's nontoxic, nonirritating, nonflammable, noncarcinogenic, and biodegradable. It claims to be safe on any surface or directly on the animal. The only info. they share regarding the ingredients are...contains water, proprietary essential oil blend and preservatives.
There are times when he just smells and I don't have time to put him in the shower. This stuff should buy me some time until I can give him a good shower.

White vinegar is pretty good at cleaning up anal gland stuff.
I wish I would have known before I bought this stuff, but I'll certainly switch to the cheaper vinegar when my bottle runs out...thanks! My young teen son throws a drama fit when the anal sacs release

Ebony used to release her glands when she was excited...yup, car rides were very exciting. I started adding metamucil to her diet and we never had an accidental release after that. Not saying it is a cure for every dog, but it worked wonders for Ebony!

Sorry I'm only seeing this now Becky, but I agree you might be onto something by adding bulk. I make homemade wet food to go over his dry.
I will add Metamucil to the wet. Here's my drama queen teen son helping me put up the wet for freezing. It really doesn't smell bad at all.
Well, I thought he was just helping until he asked for ten bucks when he was done!
