I know people will think I am a complete fruit-loop now, but I always feel that Katy is a reincarnate of my heart-dog Abbey.....Katy knows it all and does so many of the same things exactly the same. It can be scary, she even lies in the same spots......And she is very sensitive to my moods.
I will have to get this book

Nope! Absolutely you are NOT a fruit loop! I know exactly what you mean. And YES!! You must get this book. You'll love it and especially with your feelings about Katy and Abbey. This book is definitely for you. I loved it so much!!

I couldn't even get through the short video without tears. I, too, know that some of my current dogs have pieces of those at the Rainbow Bridge in them. The book is now on my list. Thanks for the heads up.

:cry:OK. I'm obviously not stable enough to watch these videos, OR read these books.
Oh Meg...I won't say you will not cry. But the story is just wonderful. I don't want to tell too much of the story soas not to ruin the joy of reading it, but I will say that the dog will go through several lives in this book. The things he learns and takes with him/her through each life make this such a wonderful story.

I know some people will not watch a movie or read a book that makes them cry. For myself, if I cry whilst reading a book or watching a movie I know that I've emersed myself into the story and am getting something from it.

Once I finished "A Dog's Purpose" I couldn't get it out of my mind. And I didn't want to either. I see so much of past dogs in my current dogs.

I hope others will read this and report back and tell what they thought. For myself, it was one of the most touching stories and one I think I can relate to myself.

You all now have me vacillating- "to read or not to read, that is the questio"n. Sad with people usually doesn't bother me (except for Blood of the Lamb over which I was hysterical for 15 minutes) but sad over dogs and other animals does. I find my life needs to be on a fairly even keel to read those so I think I will wait until 4 or 5 weeks after surgery when all is pretty much back to normal.

It was an excellent book. Took me a bit to get into it as the writing seemed sort of simple and childlike at the beginning - but the deeper you go the deeper it gets and I couldn't put it down. Yes, it is definitely and emotional trip but it well worth it and it doesn't leave you in a bad place at all. A bit like the Art of Racing in the Rain with more lives. I agree with B&G about embracing the tears while reading or watching something like this -- it opens your heart and touches something that needs touching imho. Enjoy!

started it a couple of hours ago and am about 1/2 way through, and loving it (she says with her soggy kleenex clutched in her hand).

Keep the tissue close but by the end, I think you'll have a huge smile. It is my all time favorite dog book, bar none.
