Today would have been my late husbands 76th birthday... In 2012, August 21st was the last time we saw goofy Charlie alive. He went to the Bridge the morning of the 22nd. It was the beginning of the worst three months of my life. Just over 3 weeks after Charlie left us, on September 16th, I found my heart, my special boy, Max in the back yard. As I put my hand on him, his last breath left his body.
Two months later, on November 13 (would have been my mother's birthday), my husband and friend passed.
There has been much sadness and darkness but, I have survived and I can be thankful that I'm still alive and healthy. A person never gets over such losses, we just learn how to live with the empty part of our heart.
I can smile now and enjoy the life I have, even when tears fall because I miss them.
Enjoy every moment with loved ones whether they be two or four legged. You never know when you may wake up without them in your life. Tell the people in your life often, how much you care for them and take time each and every day to spend time with the fur kids, too.
