    Wild Summer

Ron has been in and out of hospital since July, sometimes blood sugar, sometimes heart related (not attacks). We decided to take a week's vacation and go to the property in VA and relax Labor Day week-end. Fortunately took a friend with us. Got just across the state line and had tire...

    Tough vacation

Haven't been here for a while, been a rough year. We decided to take a vacation last week. Had a tire problem in AL and had to have a new tire put on at a WalMart (only place in small town with the right size). Would not allow Thunder into any area with AC. Short version- he got heat stroke...

Anyone Seen an all aluminum wheelbarrow

I have one from the 60s and would like another. It is totally aluminum from top to bottom, including handles which are tubular and very comfortable. Only non aluminum is a tire. It is so light and easy to handle, wears forever (maybe why I can't seem to find another) that it is a dream to...

    Tropical Storm Debbie

This thing is bouncing all around and the computer models cannot seem to come to any agreement. The latest composite track heads it in about over Beth Barlow Wagner with Dumaine Dogs, Melissa and me to the west. BUT very little guarantee of anything at this point. Hopefully in a day or so...

Little baby could use some prayers

My great great nephew could use your best thoughs and prayers.. He was born in early Jan and has EITHER a Rectal Duplications Cyst (very rare) or a Sococcoygeal Teratoma (even rarer). All this found after the pediatrician noticed a sacral dimple on his second check-up. They must wait 2 more...

    Finally Home

He's home but it was an interesting day yesterday. They would have released him Sunday but the pulmonologist insisted he must have a BiPap machine at home and none of the medical equipment people were open. So we waited. Come Monday the hospital started pushing for one. I had already made a...

    Another Update

and hopefully last for this round. They have moved him out of CCU onto the regular floor and said he can go home Sunday. We are ecstatic, he sounds so much better, can think, has been up all day without a nap (too many hospital things going on), actually ate some dinner. The dogs will be...

    Update on Ron

They moved him out of CCU yesterday after 8 days. He will start PT and OT in the hopes of getting him stronger. Still major lung problems (don't think they are really "fixable") but heart fix is holding. Another 2 pints of blood helped a lot (3 the day after Christmas). No known reason for...

    Not around much

Have missed everything. Ron went to hospital last Thursday with breathing difficulties. Turned out to be heart flutter with lung problems. They fixed the heart flutter yesterday with an ablation but lung problems remain.

    Good News

Ron's colonoscopy was yesterday. They took out 10 polyps including one very large one which he thinks was probably causing him all the pain in his abdomen. The doc also cauterized numberous bleeding sites. In accordance with the theory that they must give you something to proved they really...

    Hubby Update

The good news- he is home The bad news- it took 2 more pints of blood last night for a total of 3. There is very definitely intestinal bleeding but slowly. This is apparently what caused the breathing problems and the heart issues. There will be a complete top to bottom endoscopy in Jan. Not...

    In and Out

Haven't been around here much lately. Husband has been going downhill for several weeks and I finally called the ambulance on Monday. He is still in hospital. No real official diagnosis yet but looks like a combination of things, just can't tell what is causing what for sure. Hemoglobin...

    Salmon Oil Dosage

After trying many different brands of dog food and not being happy with Thunder's coat I finally ordered him some Salmon Oil capusles from Peter's suggested supplier. What I don't know is dosage. These are 500 mg. and he's 170 lbs. What would be the correct amount?

    Millionaire

We didn't see it but a friend told me today that there was a question on Millionaire about which was the Water Rescue Dog with webbed feet. Person answered St. Bernard- Ugh! Don't know what the other two choices were.

    Good thoughts needed

Many of you know DH has lots of medical problems. He's added some lung issues to the list and was supposed to have a chest X-ray yesterday because the pulmonologist is thinking obstruction of some sort. Went out to a meeting and about 2 hours later called me. Feeling too bad, couldn't drive...

    Bees and Hummingbirds

Anyone have a solution for keeping bees away from humminbird feeders. Suddenly we have so many bees the birds can't get to the feeder. With the single tube ones the birds couldn't get close, clogged with bees. Back to the multiple port types and when I changed the feed today there were 8 bees...

    Any ideas

Trying to teach Thunder to use the ramp to get in the Explorer. Started by putting it flat on the ground and having him walk back and forth. That' fine. Inclined it to the height of 1 cinder block and repeat. Also fine. Incline to 2 cinder blocks and he will do it once and that's it. Seems...
