I am a freelance retouch artist and have been for 5 years (the first 3 years we did everything manually, now we use CS2). I have been on this board for I think 3 years now and I am JUST NOW noticing that theres a camera talk section? Boy, do I feel dense! I have a few questions to ask about...

    Jiaogulan

Anyone ever give this supplement to their dogs? If so, what are the benefits? I know a lot of horse people that give it to their horses and they say it improves overall health, lameness issues etc. Just wondered about its useage for dogs.

    Remember the dragging toenails?

At our vets suggestion we tried the Softpaws nails. We put two on each front foot - the two middle claws were the ones wearing too quickly. Not only did the Softpaws protect the nails so taht they could grow back, but Wrigley was able to walk longer more comfortably. Last week I took Wrigley to...

    Weird behavior...

In the past two weeks Wrigley has stolen off of the counter: a 1/2 pan of brownies, a bunch of chocolate chip cookies, an entire loaf of bread and a whole steak. This is new behavior for him as it was previously too much for him to make the effort for. I don't know if maybe he's just really...

    Bleeding toenails on walks...

We are living temporarily in a duplex while we are waiting for our house that we're building to be completed. We'll be here until the end of September. Our problem is that because there is no fenced yard was are taking the dogs on more walks. Wrigley's toenails have been bleeding on the last...

    Elbow Dysplasia questions...

When Wrigley had his shots last the vet mentioned that she thought he might have some elbow dysplasia. We have always given 1500 glucosamine, 1500 Chondroitin, 500 MSM and gelatin. What are the options for dysplasia? Is surgery the only option? Can a 3 year old dog live on painkillers for...

    Newfs and Kids...

Since Wrigley got butchered at the groomers he has decided that the couch is his favorite place to sleep...guess the hard wood feels too hard now. Here he is last night sleeping with our son Ben.

    Update on Wrigleys shave...

Now that its been two days since the shaving incident at the "groomers", Wrigley has a red rash behind his ears, on his elbows, his groin and in a couple of other places...It would seem to me that this is razor burn. Any suggestions on how to treat it?

    I am so upset....

I took Wrigley in to be groomed at his vets office today. I asked for a shorter trim for the summer. They SHAVED him!!! They SHAVED his tail!!! He looks hideous and our other dog didn't even recognize him...I'm so sad. There is nothing I can do about it...

    On Newfs and Rabbits....

Mulenag has an avatar of a newf and a rabbit. So that must be my problem. We have a rabbit infestation, yet, our two dogs placidly look at the rabbits like they are supposed to be chewing on our flowers... The other night I saw a rabbit in the backyard and pointed Wrigley to the rabbit. He...

    Just wanted to share...

You all know how Newfs like their plastic kids pools filled with water in the summer. Well, our Anatolian Shepherd saw it for the first time today. First, he would just drink out of it. Then he put one foot in and pawed at the toys that I put in the water for the dogs. He did that for quite...

    heres a tip...

Yesterday while grooming Wrigley he had a lot of static in his fur so I wanted to use a conditioner to keep the static down. I like to use this stuff called Professional Silk (for people) Its almost like Cowboy Magic etc - in fact, probably has the same ingredients. But anyway...It makes him...

I just heard the scariest/funniest thing...

I work for a photographer and we had a puppy in last week. It was a lab x puppy. The owner also owned the mother. The owner "D" was concerned that her Lab could never have a purebred litter because she had a litter already that wasn't purebred. Funny, because how, WHY, would someone think...

I am at the end of my rope....

I cannot get Wrigley to stop pulling on the leash. Tried the prong collar, tried the Gentle Leader, tried a Halti. Nothing. He just pulls harder. He doesn't care if his mouth is pulled shut with the halti, he doesn't care if the gentle leader has his head turned, he doesn't care if the...

    Halti vs Gentle Leader

Does anyone know if there is a major difference between the two? Is one better than the other? I am just at a loss...I cannot walk Wrigley easily at all. In fact, I almost dread walking him because I know its going to be unpleasant. He's not a mean, aggressive or dangerous dog. In fact...

Oh my gosh! What should I do??

Just got back from taking Wrigley for a walk. He is a very, uh, enthusiastic walker. When we got home I noticed blood on the floor. It appears that he is dragging his front feet and he wore through his nail on his front foot! First - why is he dragging his feet (he has always pretty much done...

    Stripper

I went and bought a coat stripper because Wrigley has such thick hair on his chest and his butt. I thought it might help to use it. Only one problem - I don't know how! Any suggestions on how to use a coat stripper??? I don't want him bald when I'm finished!

    It happened to me!

Yesterday was unseasonably warm in Wisconsin and we were out for a walk. Wrigley shook his head and nailed me with a huge flooger that stretched from my ear to across my nose! Of course, my husband just stood there and laughed and called our kids over to come and look at "what Wrigley did to...

Extreme submission - friends dog needs help

My friend has a dog, a GSD, that she adopted from a training center where they train the dogs to sniff for drugs etc. The dog she adopted did not have "enough bite" so did not make the grade, so to speak. The dog has become submissive to a fault since being spayed. Inside the house, she will...
