Ok, this challenge is pictures of Newfs with small friends. Could be small dogs, cats, rabbit or whatever. Lets see how lovable our newfs can be.

    Hot spots

Crycket seems to breed hot spots. On antibiotics they clear right up but come back about two weeks later. Any ideas?

    Good news for Crycket

Crycket had her 8 week post TPLO (the second one) checkup today and passed with flying colors. Now on to the rehab stage. She finally gets to be a puppy again.

    Undercoat

Is it possible to remove too much undercoat? I have been using a two row, round pin undercoat rake and getting a housecat sized pile of undercoat out of Crycket every few days.

    Crycket TPLO update

Just an update on Crycket. Her first TPLO was done 9 weeks ago and she had a great recovery. Vet said the bone is completely healed and he can barely even see the cut line. He was amazed at how well she healed. Since she was doing so well we went ahead and did her second TPLO. They also...

    CCL and hip Surg time

Tonight Crycket gets dropped off at the specialist. Tomorrow they are doing the x-rays and maybe CT to determine which hip and knee will get fixed first. Friday they do the surg and she should come home staurday. Poor little girl, not even 2 yet. Will give updates as they come in.

    Knee repair

Just got back from specialist and looks like Crycket has torn CCLs in both knees. No wonder she has been refusing to stand or walk much. Trying to get a feel for TPLO vs TTA. She is 14 months old and right at 107 pounds. The specialist is leaning towards TPLO but I am open to any suggestions...

Crycket in her great pyrenese disguise

Crycket tries to use the snow to become a great pyrenese. Bandit checks to see who this strange white dog is.

    Hot spots

Crycket keeps getting hot spots on her back that get all yellow crusty. Anyone have a better option than shaving and using Gentizol spray?

    Crycket

My girl is up in WA and I am still stuck in TX; having Newf withdrawls. She is up to 70 pounds at about 6 months. Reports are that she is enjoying the snow and cold weather.

    Lose the puppy coat?

Whwn do newfs lose their puppy coat? Crycket has one spot of "real hair" on tail since birth and is starting to look funny as she is getting bigger. Also noticing a bit more fluff on the carpet. She is about 5 1/2 months old.

    Potty training

We are about at wit's end with Crycket. She is 5 1/2 months old and still does not get the potty training. She will just stop and pee whenever she needs to no matter how many times we have stopped her and taken her outside. We tried keeping her in her kennel when not actively watched but she...

    Growth rate for Newfi pups

Does anyone have a good link to average growth rates for Newfi pups? I know I need to keep Crycket from growing too fast but don't have a good guide to judge her against. She is just about 18 weeks and 50 pounds. Is that normal? I have lots of large breed experience but only with adult dogs not...

    Crycket belly

Our little girl is growing so fast. She has gone from 18 to 33 pounds already. She is so proud of herself that she can go up and down the stairs and jump on the sofa. Our danes are not too hapy about that last one as their safe haven is no more. Here she is being goofy.

    Farewell Whybu

Today we had to put down our beloved Whybu. At almost 12 his heart and will were strong but his body failed him. No longer able to get up on his own and struggling to walk he would still do his best to move to my wife's side no matter where she went. I know he is waiting at the rainbow bridge...
