  • We are not FB friends but I saw your sad news when a mutual friend commented. I am so so sorry for your loss. :(
Thanks for the info. Our little girl will no longer eat her kibble unless we mix tuna or wet food with it. We were tginking about switching to a grain free due to the higher meat content hoping it might be a little more enticing to her.
I feed the High Prairie (more palatable than the fish mixture they sell), but just learned that Canidae now makes several new grain free foods and am looking into pureSky. It's got a lower protein than the HP I feed. I have to check on the pricing...
    Hi Megan,

Thanks for the nice comments about my Newfs. There is a show in Indianapolis Feb 10 -13 which will be attended by a lot of good breeders. You should be sure to go. That way you can meet breeders and see the dogs they produce. South Central Newf Club's website gives updates on current happenings. Unfortunately, many of the events have passed and will restart in 2011. Here's a link to the website: http://scnc-newfclub.org/

Also be sure to check out the stickies in the General Info. section about how to choose a breeder, puppy buyer questions, etc. The Newf Club of America is also a fabulous resource. http://www.ncanewfs.org

Don't be in a hurry is the best advice I can give you. Take your time, continue to research, learn what constitutes a backyard breeder, and meet a lot of breeders and other Newf nutty people who can help you in your quest.
    Hello Ginny!
I am new to Newfoundlands and have been doing a lot of research about the breed over the past few months. I saw your post in the photos forum today - your dogs are absolutely beautiful!
I'm looking for a puppy sometime in the next six months. I live in Ohio and have family in Cincinnati. Could you recommend any events where I might be able to meet more Newfoundlands and breeders, especially during the next month or so? I've been to a show and visited one California breeder at her home. But the more Newfs I can meet, the better!
Thanks for your help and congratulations on all of your beautiful dogs!
    Megan
Any time now...her temp dropped and she's refusing food.

Have fun training today and good luck next weekend. Wish I could be there to see you and Regan do beautifully!
We did 2 breedings: one AI, one transcervical Insemination. I'll know by Sept 1st if she's pregnant. Keep your finger crossed and have the doggies cross their paws! We are entered in Lexington...Addy, not Jill, so we're not the special. I want to keep her away from germs! I didn't know the Judging Program was out.
Welcome, Katie! I'm so glad you were able to get yourself signed up. There's lots of good stuff here...

Hi Ginny- Thanks to you, I've joined the newf.net family and love it!! I'm learning so much, and today is my first browse :) We spoke a few weeks ago about getting a pup and we've emailed, too. Just wanted to say hello from california and thanks for all the great Newf advice. My hubby and I have done some soul searching and we are going to pursue getting a newfie. A lot of work, yes, but we are up for it. I will keep you posted on our progress. Hope you are doing great. -Katie
