    Masticatory Muscle Myostis

Wow. It has been a very long time since I have visited the Newfnet. My boy Jack is having issues. The Vet has him scheduled tomorrow for a muscle biopsy to diagnose Masticatory muscle myositis. What we thought was the result of a bee sting. He has been letting out a yelp if he opens his mouth as...

When all else fails ask the NN

Hello everyone. I know I should ask here first...I am looking for a barrier, like bars for the windows in my vehicle. Jack has a horrible habit of going crazy in the back seat and actually jumped out once, when he sees another dog riding in another vehicle. I have tried jerking him with the...

    Solved Jacks smell

Of course to all you wise newf owners this must seem stupid....the smell Jack had was his ears. I really had checked his ears and didn't think that was where the smell was coming from. Both ears had an infection. Poor guy!! I sure hope to be wiser next time. Thank-you for helping me, and Jack.

    Jack smells bad!!!

I don't know if I am way off thought here or not. Please advise. I have been feeding Jack only Eagle Pack, besides treats, since we got him @ 3 months. He is now 17 months. He has this icky putrid smell, not quite but almost like he has had the runs. I have checked his rear several times...

    Your Thoughts Please

I am concidering an invisible fence and wonder what advice you all could give me. Do you think they are mean? I keep asking myself if this is a cruel thing to do to Jack. What has pushed me in this direction now is....We live on 10 acres and most of the area is open with no fencing. One...

    Paw wax

I am trying to find paw wax to help Jack from slipping on my all wood floors. I came across mushers wax to protect paws from outside elements. Is this the same thing I want for anti slip in the house? I have been trying non slip socks but those are just fun to rip off. Any suggestions are...

    Jacks eyes

are always goopy. Expecially in the morning, but smaller amounts all day. Is this normal? I was wondering if there is something natural I could be cleaning his eyes with?

    Sooo Cold !!

Here we are at -7 degrees with the wind chill -24. Jack wants to play outside. I have let him out but I make him come in before very long. I was worried his ears could frost bite. Does he know enough to come in on his own before anything bad happens?

    Sweet tooth?

Yesterday Jack got into and ate a whole bag of peppermints, wrappers and all. Last night we had to go outside every three hours to potty. Usually Jack sleeps til 6:00. He has very runny poo. I give him a little pumpkin with his meal. Should I give him something else? I hope this doesn't last...

    Present for dad???

Yesterday has to be one of the busiest days Jack has ever had. He was so persistant on going to the neighbors all day. Somehow he totally forgot what come means. I put a long line on him to help remind him but it didn't help much except to give me a better chance at stopping him. In the...

    Jacks nose

Jacks nose is so incredible. My husband plays hide and seek with him. Jack always is able to sniff him out. My husband, Daryl, even hid in the box of our truck and Jack found him. This must be common for Newfs? I think Jack should be a tracker. Once Jack sees Daryl with his eyes he has such a...

Need advice dealing with new puppy

I'm not sure how to handle the new puppy next door. Our renters, who live on the same property, just got a 8wk old pug puppy. As soon as they got this new puppy home they put it down in the yard to potty. Of course my Jack was out there to inspect. I didn't know they were home or that anything...
