ALSO!! IF you are on your second or third or fourth Newf, STOP the cycle of purchasing from bad breeders! Just because all you want is a 'pet' doesn't mean you shouldn't have one that looks like 'Josh'!!! The 'standard' of what a Newf is supposed to look like is there for a reason, and the majority of Newf Breeders on the Web do not breed to the standard or check all the health clearances they should!

Susan is right!!

You CAN get pets that look like those show Newfs you see at Westminster on TV. Show breeders don't show all puppies.

Not all puppies born to top dogs are show quality for many reasons. Some don't like it...some have a fault that a show judge will see, but nobody else will, etc.

Many people see Newfs on TV (on the dog shows especially) and think "Oh I want one of those". Well...you can get one that LOOKS like those. But, you need to go to a reputable top breeder to do it!! They DO place puppies in pet homes.

Far too many Newfs gotten from BYBs or Pet Stores are Newfs, but they sure don't look like the breed standard says they should. Some barely look like Newfs! And many have serious health issues for life.

There's an illustrated guide of the standard....if you want to SEE what every part of a Newf *SHOULD* look like. Each page has a different Newf part. Here's the link:

And don't forget the rest of it....health (clearances of parents) and temperament! Those are equally important!
